Working with a variety of materials is an important part of my practice. Find out more about my Materials Research in my blog on the next tab.

Me as a cookie, 2019

Modelling clay, iridescent medium, and house paint.

At its best, art provides a platform for discussing important issues in our contemporary world. It disrupts the routines of day-to-day existence and provokes new connections, both socially and mentally. Through the transformation of materials into artworks, I’m able to explore my ideas and deepen my understanding of my subject matter. My time in the studio offers me the chance to unplug from an often overwhelming world, and enter a state of making that is quite different than the demands of language and writing.

I’m currently investigating the fragile relationship between humans and nature, primarily using painting and sculpture. My newest works focus on the movement of petroleum through our human world. Petroleum is a natural product, formed from ancient marine organisms and plant matter. This material is pumped, burned, extruded and injected.

Through these recent works, I hope to highlight our relationships with plants, animals, the earth, and other humans.
