Obscure Milieu Exhibition 2022

Looking at the impact of our urban geography on the natural world, Marion brings snippets of nature into the Beaver Hall Gallery space in Toronto, Canada. Natural specimens are hung, impaled and manipulated into place in hopes the viewer will reflect on the fragile relationship between humans and nature. Suggesting new ways of thinking with regard to building materials and greening our cities, this display of materials research takes in a broad range of specialisms from geography to architecture to biology.

In It Could Be Different, the four bio-receptive tiles positioned below the suspended birch branch have been planted with moss and fungi suggesting futuristic materials which could be used in our built urban environment.

This exhibition was presented with the support of the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) which provided funding for the materials and exhibition space.
