International Künstlerhaus A-i-R Residency 2023
The International Künstlerhaus art residency on the grounds of Kebbel-Villa in Bavaria, Germany encouraged the development of work that captured the natural setting around the artists' residence. I visited the walking path along the Naab River which brought some coolness during the hot August weather. I collected natural materials which were the basis for three small sculptures. I also captured several videos of this magical place and was able to bring the calming effect of the sights and sounds of the water into the exhibition space. These works, along with several paintings on paper and raw canvas, were exhibited at the end of our residency and later, when complete, in West Kensington in London, UK.
Other artists in attendance were Pippa Brabyn (England), Rosie Dahlstrom (Scotland), and Dedeia Rocha (Brazil). I made three collaborative collage works with Dedeia Rocha.
The exhibition in London featured film screenings, live music, and readings by the artists and friends.
